World History BWorld history is a subject that embraces all humanity. World history helps us to understand who were are as individuals and as members of nations or groups. Though we will not be able to cover all nations, events and people, we will attempt to create a picture of different themes and events that have shaped all of mankind. We will also investigate the following:
1. What is distinctive about a particular land and people. In short, world history helps us think about what it means to be human and about the characteristics that all humans have in common. 2. Preparing to live in the world. World history helps prepare young people for living in the global community and participating in civic life. We hope students can in some measure think, speak, and write about world issues and problems intelligently and confidently. We will focus on history, problems, and challenges that humans have shared simply because they are humans. 3. Attaining cultural literacy on a world. Making world history a core subject in schools broadens the base of knowledge that we all share. It helps us think about local and global problems in a broader perspective. Studying world history helps us create a collective understanding of the world and people in it. This common knowledge will help us when thinking about and solving the issues of today.
